About Us:

Tidekettle (est. 2018) exists to pursue and promote hand papermaking using both traditional and experimental techniques. We make small batch paper both for use in our own work and to spark creativity in other artists of all ages and disciplines.

We increasingly seek to use recycled, salvaged and locally sourced papermaking fibres, both for their sustainability and for their unique aesthetic qualities. We aim to continue building on our ongoing collaborations with local business and environmental organisations.

The Tidekettle shop at 16 Bridge Street in Berwick stocks papers by the sheet, paper art, artists’ books, stationery, instructional books and work on paper by selected local artists (please contact us ahead of time if planning a special trip).

We offer bespoke workshops here at Tidekettle and in the community (please contact us to enquire), and Lucy also teaches twice-yearly residential courses at West Dean College in West Sussex.

Lucy holds an MFA in Interdisciplinary Book and Paper Arts from Columbia College Chicago (2005) and has UK Qualified Teacher Status (PGCE Modern Languages Queen’s University Belfast 1997)
